Selection Criteria

The
plans that convey the most promising combination of significant
capital gains potential, attractive investment possibilities
and actual implementation. The plans which involve innovation,
inventiveness and a significant proportion of R&D effort
will be preferred over others.

The extent to which there is a credible market opportunity.
A realistic approach for carrying out the project and
that there has been some thought given to commercialization
routes and strategies.

The scope for protection of any intellectual property
on which the business idea relies and the potential effects
of ownership by others of any background intellectual
property needed for the project.

The personal qualities of the entrants and the degree
of drive and initiative they display in their proposals.

Plans will be judged by a panel drawn from the board and the distinguished faculty. The judging
panel of Business Plans will reserve the right to disqualify
any entry that in its judgment violates the letter of
the spirit of the competition.
